Capital manages four funds, namely Singapore BioInnovations
Fund (SBI), PharmBioGrowth Fund (PGF), Life Sciences Investments
Fund (LSI), and Biomedical Sciences Investments Fund (BMSIF).
Singapore Bio-Innovations (SBI)
The SBI Fund I, established in 1990, had a fund size of S$40
million (approximately US$26 million). Its main objective
was to introduce Singapore to the global biotech VC industry
by focusing on overseas VC-led investments. This fund was
fully realized in 2005.
SBI Fund II was set up in 1998 with a fund size of S$70 million
(approximately US$46 million). It is fully invested, and currently
has some 15 companies in its portfolio.
PharmBio Growth Fund/Life Sciences Investment Fund
(PGF/LSI)
These funds were established in 1998 to co-invest mainly in
key projects in Singapore. The combined fund size is S$100
million (approximately US$66 million). The funds are fully
invested and currently have 4 companies in its portfolio.
Biomedical Sciences Investment Fund (BMSIF)
Established in 2001, BMSIF’s goal is to make strategic
investments leading ultimately to Singapore-based activities.
The S$1 billion fund (approximately US$660 million) has to
date invested in close to 45 companies.
BMS INC (Innovate ‘N’ Create)
The
BMS INC scheme is a $25 million (US$16.5 million)
fund created under the BMSIF, dedicated to supporting local
biomedical start-ups by providing seed and early stage funding.
Successful ventures will receive investments of between S$250,000
to S$2,000,000 in the form of equity or convertible loans.
